About Illinois Tribal Loans

Illinois-only, fact-first coverage of the sovereign market, with the installment offers and the state-regulated advance.

Illinois Tribal Loans exists to put the state’s own lending arithmetic ahead of the agreement. Illinois is the only state this site covers, so the statute, the tiered fee schedule, the regulator’s links, and a worked cost example appear on every page, and each dollar figure here is computed from those published rules rather than tuned for drama.

What this site is: a free referral service that passes applicants to independent participating lenders serving Illinois. The lenders pay us for advertising; applicants pay us nothing. What this site is not: a lender, a broker that decides credit questions, any tribe or tribal organization, or any source of approval promises. The brand on these pages is Illinois Tribal Loans, and it claims no affiliation with any of the nine federally recognized tribes and no connection to any state agency.

The Rules Our Editorial Team Works By

  1. Primary sources only. The statute (815 ILCS 123/ (Predatory Loan Prevention Act)), the 36% APR cap, and the regulator publications are the source of every legal figure, re-verified on a fixed cycle.
  2. Math in the open. Every cost figure published here sits beside the inputs that produced it, from the $42 statutory fees on $300 to the amortization behind installment payments.
  3. Named reviewers. Every guide and money page names the person who reviewed it.
  4. No approval promises. Guaranteed-approval language is rejected everywhere on the site, including in offers we decide not to display.

Who Checks Our Pages

Nell Ainsley

Lead editor, financial writer

Nell spent six years on the consumer desk of a Chicago business publication before turning to consumer finance writing full time. She maintains the Illinois statute tables on this site and re-runs every cost figure against the PLPA's 36% all-in cap before a page publishes.

Cal Brooks

Reviewer, credit counseling background

Cal worked eight years as a certified credit counselor in Cook County, helping households work out of short-term debt cycles. He reviews every money page here for the questions a counselor would ask: total cost, the legal line on two-week products, and which licensed door to try first.
